Swing Dancing Couples find Fun and Romance

If you're in a relationship that's gotten a bit predictable, why not spice things up a bit by doing something new? Novelty is a friend of romance, which is why choosing to do an adventurous activity can renew the spark between you and that special someone. Swing dancing is a perfect choice because it's ideal for couples and is romantic and fun. Swing dancing couples get the benefits of great exercise and time spent together learning a fun new skill.

Swing dancing is definitely a form of dance designed for couples or even groups. It originated in 1926 in Harlem's legendary Savoy Ballroom. The Savoy had a dance floor which spanned a city block and a bandstand where some of the best swing jazz bands played. The Lindy Hop originated here, as did the Jitterbug. Band leader Cab Calloway introduced the Jitterbug, which was not only a piece of music but the dance that was done to the music as well.

Many people enjoy swing dancing because it is reminiscent of a different time period. Even swing dancers in today's modern times dress up in 30s and 40s costumes to enjoy this form of dance. Think snazzy zoot suits for men and flirty skirts and Mary Jane shoes for women. If you were to walk into a swing dance club right now, you might think you traveled back in time. The role playing is part of the fun for many couples, who enjoy the costumes and etiquette of the swing jazz time period. The music is another great thing about swing dance. In addition to the Big Bands of the past, there are new swing jazz bands who play modern swing with an old fashioned flair.

Some people think their significant other would not be interested in swing dancing. Many swing dancing couples started out with one enthusiastic partner and one who wasn't so enthusiastic but went along with the idea. As time progresses, many less than thrilled new dancers learn to love swing dancing and become quite good at it. So if you've always wanted to try swing dance, why not ask your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife to join you? It's a great way to share a fun experience with your significant other and make memories that will last a lifetime!
